It's raining, it's pouring

Hey, It's been awhile since I've written, simply because school finals have been overwhelming. I have finished my yoga and zumba classes, and I'm done with one to the two finals in my Spanish. I completed the Oral Spanish test last night, which I got 96% on, I'm so happy, and now I'm preparing for the language department test.

Today, it's rainy and cold. So, we are staying inside the house. Addy had a great idea, we decided to paint faces. So, here I took some pictures of the way cute faces. Addy wanted the usual, a butterfly face, and cole, I just decided to give him a tiger face.

Also, we went bowling recently as a family, and I decided to get some cute pics with them there too, as well as them gardening in their grandma and grandpa Stroud's backyard.

Also , you will see some other video's of the kids in different places being cute, I just thought they would be fun to share.

By the way, the picture of Addy on the floor, is when she is dancing crazy at the bowling alley, to the music that's on.

So, today is a typical day at the Roundy house. We painted, (which you will be able to see the pictures of,) Colored, and played alot. The kids even got a chance to 'live life on the edge-by coloring on the walls!

So, here is a bit on thoughts on each event so far today...

This morning Coleman threw a tantrum for 20 minutes because he didn't want his clothes on him :) What a silly boy. He prefers to live his life the way he came in it, NAKED.
Then, as I was cleaning the Living Room, Addy came into the room and asked me not to be angry with her- after a while of coaxing she told me that she and Coleman decided to color on the walls. But what I thought was so cute, is that when I put them into time out ( they sit in there high chairs for the same amount of minutes as their age) I saw Cole reach out and grab Addy's hand, while they were both crying. It was as if they were both saying
"Were in this together" So, I got a cute pic of them holding hands while in time out.

So, after this, I figured, they must need more time with me- so we took a break and painted. So, here is some pictures of the painting that we did. Notice the difference between Addy's painting area and picture compared to Colemans. Also, notice how messy they each are. I find that interesting and comical.

Contructions for the Contractions

So, today we watched a blues clues episode that talked all about contraptions. After the show, Addy was so excited to make her own. She ran to me and said, "Mommy, Mommy, we have to make a contraction!" "A what? " I said, " A condaption!" She replied.

So, Addy is now so excited to make and build her own contraption. Here are a few of her ideas I quote:

" We could make a contraption so that when I need to wash my hands, it will turn on the sink, and put some soap on my hands. So we will need cardboard and glue to glue to the sink and we could make hands out of cardboard."

"We could make a contraption that would clean out my nose!"

"Oh, Mommy! We could make a contraption that would put my shoes on me, so I push on a button, and then glue and string would hold my shoe in the air, and it would fall on my foot"

She's such a smart little girl! Very creative and excited to try new things. So, here is a video of her making instructions for the contraptions that she wants to make.

She calls it the "constructions" Which I think is so adorable.

Get out of Jail Free!

As my daughter and I were playing chutes and ladders today, (her pretend version) she discovered bad people time out-I'm not sure where she learned this- IT WAS JAIL

I asked her why she was putting her pretend daddy's and mommy's in jail, and she said
They ate too many cookies!

So, the way we get out, and stay out of jail, is to stop eating so many cookies!
As for me, I might get caught some day eating too many cookies :)

Gratitude

So, as you all know, I'm taking a few school classes in the evenings. So, yestesterday as I was dropping my kids off to be watched while I go to school, one of my neighbors saw me, and mentioned that she was suprised that I was without my children, and then I proceeded to tell her I was going to school, she said she was impressed- and that was pretty cool. Well, that got me thinking....It is pretty cool that I can go to school, while being a mom. It' s pretty cool that I have such wonderful loving people that support me in the endeavor. So, I just wanted to say....

.......... that I am grateful to be blessed with a wonderful husband who is willing to work full-time so I can be a stay at home mom AND that he is willing to go to work early so that I can go to school. I am also grateful that I have such a wonderful friend who is willing to watch my kids. I am grateful to my family who offer up such good support at this time and the support that have offered our family in the past.I am so lucky to have such a wonderful husband, and I just wanted to say to him, THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO , Your work doesn't go unnoticed.

Today we went to Wal-mart, YAY! What fun! So, at the wal-mart close by there is a fishtank that we always go see, it's become an event that we get to do when we go shopping. So, I recorded a cute movie of the kids looking at the fish, that you can see. ( Sadly, before I could catch it on tape, Cole was pressing his face up against the fish tanks, and was saying 'hey guys' repeatedly to them, it was the cutest thing)

What else was so cute , is in the movie you'll see that he starts to hit the fish tank, that's becuase if you listen closely ( sorry my phone speakers are not that good) Addy says 'let's scare'em' and then coleman follows is big sister and says 'ets are'm' and addy hits the tank and then coleman follows her example. :)

Later in the store, Addy and Coleman entertain themselves by running around and chasing eachother, then when Coleman get's lost, (I"ll be on the sidelines watching him, but he can't see me) he's yell as loud as possible "ADDeeY! Until he finds her. Heh heh

The BIG GREEN Day.

So, it happened! Leprechauns came to our home! We must have had a lot of them because they made quite a mess. Addy placed a green ball into the trap, and woke up with it in her bed! My, these Leprechauns are sneaky.

The leprechauns left their hat, and Addy and Coleman searched for it, when they found it, (hidden underneath our shoe basket) there was Green clothes for them to wear and the movie Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

The Leprechaun trap had been set off, and was down on the ground when we found it in the morning. Upon opening it we found the Capri Sun had been emptied-those leprechauns were thirsty-and the fruity colorful cereal we left for them was gone, and in it's place was a package of green M&M's and some Chocolate Gold coins. Addy is so excited about all of this. Everything she finds that is slightly out of place(even the items that were not part of the leprechauns mess) she assumed it was from them. It was the cutest thing.

The sad news: We didn't catch him this year, but there is always hope for the years to come.

I just wanted to say now, Addy is so excited to set a trap for the Leprachaun. She's in her room searching for a pot and some Gold to put under a make-shift trap we will do.

I love her thrill for things.

Saint Patricks Day

The holiday is tomorrow I know, but today in Preschool Addy's teacher celebrated it. She told the kids that Leprachauns can be sneaky . So, I guess the kids left the room, during their little recess, and then Mrs Kristi, ( Excuse me, the leprachaun :) ) went into the schoolroom and turned all the pictures upside down, and he left a note saying that he couldn't find his shoes, but if they could find them he would leave gold in them.

Well, I guess that Addy and first upon hearing that a Leprachaun came, was scared and wouldn't enter the room- and then since they came she wouldn't leave the teachers side. When I went to go pick her up, she had a mixture of emotions, one of them was the fear of a little green man, coming to mess up your place, but the other emotions was excitment about him coming, leaving gold and them finding his shoes.

So, our Original plan was to do an activity with the Leprachaun coming to our home tonight while the kids were sleeping, but now I'm unsure if I should do it. If she would be more excited or afraid. Any ideas on how to make the Leprachaun seem less scary?

But some of the cute things the kids ( I carpool Addy and another boy named Gabe) said were:

We were in the car on the way home, and we were talking about how Leprachauns leave places messy. And she said, (all on her own) - "That's why our house is always a mess mom! Leprachauns do it, then leave" -HAHA! I thought that was quite clever.

The other thing that was said between the two kids was, Addy said:

"I'm Scared of Leprachauns"

Then Gabe replied:

"I'll protect you Addy"

Isn't that the cutest? I love these kids, they are adorable.

A22On another topic- This week, we got a bunkbed! Coleman finally got to sleep in a big boy bed. We got him a set of Toys sheets and comforter, and Addy got new Tinkerbelle sheets/ blanket. It's so far gone very well, on the training him to stay in bed. He so far has been sleeping in the bed for two nights, and one nap and all three times, he went down no problem. He hasn't yet gotten up and out of bed, given his new found freedom. I'm so proud of him.

Addy loves her bunk bed, I just asked her what she likes about it and she said " Uh, the top thing" Hehe

SPANISH

What an interesting language. This is the major class that I am taking this semester. What a difficult language to learn. But, as I learn it, I assume that many native spanish speakers think, “English, what a difficult language to learn.” I look at other languages such as Japanese, or even Egyptian, and I think, ‘ Wow!, that would be hard to learn.’

I”m at the point where it seems like I’m learning to talk backwards. For example, rather then saying I like that car, I’m saying the car pleases me. I’ve got alot to learn, but what’s great is that I’ve never dreamed that I’d be so passionate about learning another language. It’s alot of fun.

This last weekend, our family has still been sick, and we have such a wonderful neighbor to have brought us soup. I’m so lucky to have her in my life. She is a wonderful friend, and confidant. She has 2 beautiful little girls named Sadie and Lydia that my children love to play with. She is also so wonderful as to help by watching them on one of the days I go to school.

No Allergies!

Yesterday I took Coleman to his follow up appt. of his ear tube surgery. We recieved great news! He has no allergies. Not even to dairy! Wow!, so he might have an aversion to it, but we can definetly try to give him milk again. YAY! I’m so happy that he won’t always be stuck on a special diet of no dairy.

Also, I observed a miracle! Coleman was actually not whining at the doctors, or squirming when the doctor tried to look in his ears. He actually held the doctors hand yesterday. He must have known that it was the doctor’s doing on why he is feeling better. It’s just a great confirmation that he needed the tubes, and I feel bad that after all this time of him going through that pain, it took us so long to figure out the problem. Poor kid. He is so happy now, almost a different little boy.

Last night Lauren and I went on a movie date. We saw UNKNOWN with Liam Neeson . Overall, I thought it was a good movie, but it could’ve used more action. I also thought it was kind of a copy of Bourne Identity- but it did have some cool jumpy parts, and of course, I love that. The kids are still sick, and I’m getting sick. I have that yucky stuff in the back of my throat.

It's been over a year!

Well, It's been over a year since I have written. So, I thought I would make a bit of an entry today.

Addy is attending Preschool, YAY! and she is so smart. She is quite precocious. For instance,I'll ask her if would like a blanket and a pillow with her on the couch, and she will respond (being 4 years old) " No thank you, I'll probably be comfortable without them". It's easy for me to forget that she is only 4, and that she is just a little girl. And then, when she throws her tantrums, I have to remind myself that she is only 4, and it is to be expected at this age.

Addy loves to watch her daddy play nintendo games, especially Zelda. (Dad doesn't mind it at all) She loves outings, and playing with her little friends. It feels like she is getting bigger by the minute. I'm afraid I'll forget this precious time of her childhood.

Coleman, is two. He is such a cuddle bug. I love it! I remember when I was pregnant with him, and I discovered that the baby was a boy. Back then, I wasn't excited about having a little boy. I was really hoping for a little girl-thinking that they were cuter, less slobbery, they had cuter clothes and toys etc. But now that I have my son, I am absolutely in love with him, and I couldn't imagine my life without him. He is one of the highlights of my life. He is so cuddly and cute. When he wants our attention, he will grab our face with his hands, pointing our eyes at his, and say "doboo" which means sippy cup, or whatever else he wants.

Today, since we are all sick, I was going to lay down on the couch on a pillow that I had previously laid out, and rest, and I found him laying on the pillow ( how cute!) so, then I laid with him, and he cuddled with me for 20 min. I love how he is so touchy. He still either hasn't learned how to kiss, or he is not wanting to be too mushy, so instead of actually using his lips to touch our face, he will poke one of his fingers on your cheeks, as a kiss. It all began when at the beginning we said, "Coleman, kiss me" and we would point to our cheeks, illustrating where to kiss, and so he began poking our cheeks for a kiss.

Another one of his cute things he does is, when we ask him if he wants to watch the movie Toys or Cars, he will reply "Tars," or "Coys", I think to express that he wants both.

As for Lauren, he is excelling in his company at work. He has worked there a little more then a year, and he has already been told, numerous times, that they really appreciate his work, and they have offered him a promotion at work Assistant Creative Director.

And as for me, last fall, I decided (with the help of my family) to go back to school part-time, and that has been one of the best decisions I have made. Although I was hoping it would solve the problem of ADD, -being proof that I didn't have it, and that all I needed was some more to 'my world' but it didn't. I still have it, and it's been a struggle. I'm still learning about it. I feel like I'm going through the grief phases. 1. Shock, and Denial, 2. pain and Guilt, 3. Anger and bargaining, 4. Depression, and now Acceptance, and desire to work with it. I haven't reached the others yet. At first, I was so relieved that I told everyone that it was ADD. I always felt like there was something different about me, that no matter how hard I tried to explain it to someone else, they never understood, but now I know there isn't something different, and that it is ADD. Then, I went through the depression of having it, and the denial. Now after months of observing how I act, I do know, that I have it.

Not to say that it is only a 'handicap' but now that I know I can re-learn stategies to work with it. I know that there isn't something different about me, and I'm the only one that feels this way. It's been a struggle in many ways, such as the roller coaster of emotions, like some days I feel up to completing needed tasks, and ready to attack the day, and other days, or even hours or minutes, I don't want to do anything- but now knowing this, I can hopefully harness it, master it, and use if for my beneift. Well, it's the week before Michael get's home, and we are so excited! Not to mention, my mother and Patti are counting the days. Addy is all ready to meet her uncle Michael. She knows his name well.

Lauren is very busy with his new calling of 'Young Men's President' and I am very busy as Nursery Coordinator. The Bishopric also asked him to speak this Sunday, and he has many deadlines at work to accomplish. I'm very proud of all the hard work he is doing.

A few days ago, I put Addy in her chair, with her washable markers-which she usaully colors the paper- at the table and left her for a minute or two. When I came back, I noticed that she was very interested in coloring eyes(which she has been over the past few days, just not all over her face.)So, she tried, and was successful in coloring ALL around her own eyes. Laugh out loud. She is also loving reading time. I am uploading a couple video's and pictures of the coloring below.

I'm busy gathering things for Christmas, and Thanksgiving next week, and I still can't believe that it's already that time of year. Well, this was just a quick blog to update all of you on what was going on in our family.

Halloween a Haunting

October 25th was our ward Halloween Party, well our last ward anyway. Our ward got split last Sunday but we went to the Halloween party anyway. I made some White Chili to contribute to the chili dinner and I won 1st place out of 12-13 different chili's!

That was fun, (It was Docena's recipe).

Addy went as a Lady bug, I went as a speed bump, (I dressed all in black and put a yellow paper over my belly that said 'Caution: Speed Bump') and Lauren went as Clark Kent/Superman with a Goatee, he is currently growing a goatee, and I really like it.

We also decorated our trunk for the Trunk or Treat event. That was alot of fun. I cut our several black spiders and put them into spider webs that hung all around the trunk. Pumpkins and other decorations were taped around the car. Inside we had a bunch of candy with a walking pumpkin man a crawling skeleton arm (over the candy) that the kids loved. Some young ones were scared enough that we needed to hand them the candy.

I've been getting into making Christmas Cards, since I just got a Cricut Machine. They have been really fun to make as well. Lauren and I still share our favorite hobby together of playing games, and he is a great provider for our family. Michael, my brother get's home from the mission he served in Romania in 5 weeks! We are so excited to see him and introduce him to his two new nieces Adalyne and Lucy.

Adalyne is such a talkative girl, she really enjoys pretend play. We recently went to the park, and she had a blast! I have some more really fun video's attached as well as the Halloween photo's and videos below:

Policital Mumbo Jumbo

You know what bothers me? Well, besides having a piece of popcorn kernel stuck in my gums with no floss or toothpicks to get it out...?

It's all this political fluff that seems to emanate from the digestive regions of the presidential candidates and their campaigns. It's like a loud puff of foul stench that comes at an unwelcome and embarrassing time. Like as I'm sitting down to a deliciously prepared meal, thus causing me to loose my appetite, or as I'm sitting in a quiet room with hundreds of other people, and there's no way to blame it on the person next to me or to repeat the sound by rubbing my shoes together in an attempt to blame the outburst on something in-animate. Or, that time when I...well, you get the idea.

The air seems to reek lately with all this, and, quite frankly, it's making me a little queezy. Aren't these men old enough and experienced enough to have learnt to keep it in? Well, maybe McCain is too old to keep it in... And, many would argue that Obama certainly isn't experienced enough...

The point is, what ever happened to integrity, and honesty, and up-rightness, and the American dream that any good man--or woman-- can become president? What ever happened to playing fair? Did anybody every play fair when seeking out the most important political office in the world? I feel like I haven't looked up to a President of the United States as a truly noble leader since... well... ever in my life. (Granted I still haven't seen more than like 4 presidents during my lifetime, and I don't remember two of them).

What spawned all this cranial spewing? Well, this is the first time in my life where I have actively followed the presidential election. I've been watching the news and I've been trying to read up on political news here and there (though I get the strange feeling that the media is a bit liberal--who woulda thought?!?!)

Also, what really stunk up the room lately was a barrage of all sorts of very biased political e-mails forwarded to me, and I don't like it. Especially because most of them contain "references" that are only there to attempt to convince me that the horrible things that are being said about both candidates are founded in truth. But it all feels like scheming lies built up on lies to me. And, sadly, many of these forwarded e-mails come from loved ones. I am sure they didn't write the silly things, but I hope they don't buy into them entirely either.

By the way, I'm not upset at any of you who may have forwarded me one of those stinking heaps... I just fear that there are some people out there (certainly nobody I know) that aren't smart enough to figure out when they are being lied to or manipulated into taking a side. I hope I'm smart enough...

I recently read that racist comments and threats are being yelled out by some of those less intelligent types at political rallies, and that the GOP candidate was letting it go. Then, after several weeks of this going on and after public attention, he decided he better speak out and stop it from continuing. I'm not saying that only the Republicans are to blame. I hear the Democratic candidate claims that he is going to somehow cut 95% of American's taxes, and somehow offer me a wicked cool insurance plan... A government run Health Care plan? How does that save me money?

I will say that I am grateful for one of the outcomes of this reasty election year: the wonderful Saturday Night Live parodies of the debates and the conventions. They're like a warmly scented candle that temporarily masks the bad smells coming from the donkey and elephant rumps. Comedy gold, I tell you. Comedy gold!

So, what's the moral?

Keep it in or keep it silent... though, I suppose either of those could be deadly couldn't they?

6 months and still going...

Well, were coming to 6 months of being pregnant and we've decided that we will name our new little boy Joshua. We are still debating on the middle name. Maybe 'fire' or 'flame' or something. J/k. I think he will be a gymnist someday because he flips alot. Must have got that from his Uncle Shad on Lauren's side.

Addy is getting so big these days, and she is talking alot. We are beginning to understand her language better. The other day she bonked her head on the couch and when daddy came home, she told him, in her own language 'I got a bonk, I was sad, I bonked my head and I was sad. But I'm okay now, I'm okay.' It was really cute. We will also be able to pick up other conversations she is starting with us, like about her favorite book, 'Maisey's Colors'. She still LOVES to read, and LOVES to color. We started fingerpainting a few weeks back and I did a great job of teaching her not to paint onto her body, then her daddy comes along and teaches her how fun it is to paint circles/balls on the palms of her hands. So, now, whenever she paints, I'm confident we will be taking a bath afterwards. She gets paint ALL OVER HERSELF! I've provided some pictures below.

She is into singing alot, both in and out of the bathtub and she is very good at carrying on conversations over both the real and the pretend phone. She loves to switch the light on and off in the Living Room, and loves to see bugs out side. The other day she saw a beetle, and was looking at it with awe, saying 'bug, it's a bug' then she covered it with her food, (stepping on it) moved her foot, and said 'bug went bye bye' wondering where it went to. Ha Ha

She loves hats as you can tell and will be able to see in the following videos. She knows, mostly but not all of the animal sounds. And the colors Brown, Pink, and Yellow. Were still working on the others. She can tell when someone is sad, and goes to hug them. And says, 'no sad'.

Grandma Stroud, Adalyne and I recently went to the petting zoo at Thanksgiving Point. She loves to ride the ponies there and feed the animals. We have some great pictures for you to see of her feeding the animals. I'm still learning how to use this so it may take a while to get this blog up and running.
